VIN numbers

If you did do a HPi check and only checked the windscreen they would use this as grounds to say why didn’t you also check the engine bay VIN. Just like all insurance companies they will look for their way out of it...

Initially yes, then to cover you in the event of something cropping up you have to enter the vin. It validates the hpi check.

Then if something does crop up that hpi have missed they pay out(allegedly)

Helloin this case both reg and vin are from another car which is legit, so wouldn't have helped.

Only thing that would have helped is me knowing this car better for more locations of vin's and pick up the mismatch.

You should of just gone and got a Chisel and a hammer or a Grinder, Ground the chassis plate off the Engine bay.

Gave it abit of a clean and touch up if you damaged the paint behind it and never worried about it again haha.
