i have noticed since the cold weather has came in that when driving my car it never really heats up past 70 degrees unless i leave the car sitting for at least 10mins, to which it goes to 90 and sits there. but if i drive i goes straight back down again. so my obvious thinking is the temp sensor is stuck open...

but just before i buy the part to replace i just wanted to ask if what I am experiencing is normal or should it heat up to 90 and sit there

TIA

Need to validate the readings from the CTS to confirm as a faulty CTS typically shows a different engine temp in the engine module to the instruments module (CTS has two sensors)...

If the engine temps are reporting 90 deg while instruments are reporting 70deg then its the CTS that needs changing... if the temps are roughly the same (they are never exactly the same) then suggests the stat is stuck open...

The car taking a longer time to warm up would be symptomatic of a faulty stat
