I did the same job on my Mk 4 Golf GTi maybe 12 years ago. My only bit to add is that I added a thin layer of waxoyl to the edges of the replacement parts and certainly anywhere that metal touches metal.
Just this week I had to dismantle everything again to fit new door locks to both rear doors and there was no evidence of any corrosion at all on the parts I had replaced back then.
The Audi dismantling job is much easier than the VW door lock replacement where everything has to be removed from the door. Just take your time and make sure you have all the correct tools before you start.
