Hi guys, sorry if I’m on wrong forum! Only just found you and need some help for a family member please?
They have a 57plate sline 2.0 dsg with 87k on.
Service regularly at a garage that they trust and have used for a number of years(not an Audi specialist) this time went along asked for the timing belt to be changed whilst in for annual service, which they agreed to do. All completed car collected and returning home noticed that when trying to accelerate up a hill car had no power?
Took it back. Told new turbo required.. (I believe they got a recon one fitted?) anyway, collected and a few miles down the road same thing happened. Took it back a again, this time garage adamant that nothing wrong with it. That they had double checked everything, nothing had happened whilst t was in the garage - until finally after about a ten mile road trip it happened again! This time they said it was the dsg gearbox.. (wont tell you how much they said to replace it!)
please can anyone tell me if this is just unlucky or if it sounds a little odd to anyone?? Currently the vehicle is being taken here there and everywhere to be tested and no one seems to know what the problem is. Any help would be great. Currently can’t get the car back to take it to an Audi dealer and ask them to plug it in as it’s not at the local garage but somewhere else getting checked out..
they just seem very vague with their answers and not willing to answer questions - which always worries me!!?
It’s shame as car had nothing wrong with it what-so -ever when it went in and up until now this garage have serviced it very year for the past 5yrs with no trouble what so ever! :(

Where abouts are you based? would be a really good idea to take it to someone who knows what they are doing (VW specialist).

Thanks for reply.
In Kent near Rochester. Family are trying to get the car back to do exactly that, but garage keeps sending it to other places to get it checked out.. it’s all very weird!

You might want to re-post this in the A3 section, you will more than likely get more responses and therefore, more help :)

Petrol, diesel?

Engine code?

Timing is something I find non vag garages get wrong on cambelt changes, this caused a major issue for us when we bought a car years ago, turned out timing was out by a tooth & new belt timed properly by a master tech colleague completely changed how the car ran.

However, if it went in ok, then I fault to see turbo has gone or anything to do with dsg as it hardly ever goes like that, there would be signs beforehand.

Its possible they disturbed something, trapped something etc.

More car data needed.

Thank you JRock - will do!

NHN - I’ve past this on thank you.. having to ask P/D as I can’t remember!! What do you mean by Engine code??

Engine would have its own version code, as would the gearbox, inside page of the service book.

NHN thankyou!!
Just heard back from him. He managed to get it to a vag garage today. They found the problem - Something to do with Limp mode EGR valve problem!!(?)

Thanks again for the help guys and for steering us in the right direction! (Excuse the pun!!)

How the hell couldn't the original garage find that, very very bizarre.

Egr can get clogged etc but it would throw a code if its faulty due to flow & thus the garage should have seen this on a diagnostic, I believe someone has been ripped of here.
