Hey guys, I am brand new here. Finally got my RS3 (2016 plate) and she is AMAZING! Having had the Golf R32 and the R, the RS3 is just next level.
I am starting this new thread as I have a few queries I hope you experts can answer
1) Anyway, reason I am here is because the other day after a drive (it was a rainy day), I was looking at the back of the car, above the right exhaust pipe, and noticed some sort of dripping. So was not sure if it was some sort of leak, I think it was just water, and it eventually stopped - but thought this can't be right as a car of this quality surely should drain properly?. I did not notice any wear or tear on closer inspection, so hoping this is normal.
2) I noticed the left exhaust pipe when gearstick is in sport mode makes all the noise - the right pipe is pretty much silent, and even when putting my hand close to it I feel nothing, but left one is definitely breathing, so I just wanted to confirm this was all normal as it makes no sense, both should be making noise, the more noise the better, and dual noise would be awesome!
3) I also please need some clarification with Sport Mode on the gearstick and Dynamic Mode? I thought this was the same thing?. I usually drive with the gear set to S, yes I know it drinks lots of fuel, but this is where I seem to get the noise, when in D mode on gearstick, it's pretty docile and too quiet. I have only once had this popping sound you all talk about (engine was roasting), and that was after a long drive on quiet streets, so is there another way to get this popping sound without having to take her out horsing her?.
Drive select is set to individual with the following settings:
Engine/gearbox = DYNAMIC
Suspension control = AUTO
Steering = AUTO
Engine sound = DYNAMIC
Is that correct or should I have drive select as DYNAMIC?. The Audi salesman who had an S3 himself told me the above were the best settings. What if the car was set to COMFORT but the gearstick was put into S - would it still make the awesome noise?. Probably a silly question, but what if you put an RS3 without the Sports Exhaust/Dynamic Package into S mode on gearstick (would it have some sort of increased noise), or is there no S mode without the upgraded exhausts?. I presumed an RS3 without the sports exhaust would be the same as Drive mode on a RS3 with the Sports Exhaust?.
4) On start-up the car makes 2 sets of noises:
a) A nice sporty noise, sort of a prolonged noise from the Sports Exhaust, but during this few second period I feel the car is not responsive, I can't really put the foot down until it settles, it can sometimes be up to 10 seconds before the noise stops then everything feels normal and I feel I can put the foot down and drive off, and I don't mean flat down, I just mean general driving with gearstick in D mode, hard to explain really, but hoping it's normal.
b) A mechanical sounding noise of moving parts, again hard to explain but sounds like something is twisting and turning, the noise stops after a few twists and turns. Could be the suspension?.
I have an Audi warranty, so I am sure if something was wrong they'd fix it, I just can't be ***** with the hassle.
5) Lastly, in this thread here - http://www.audi-sport.net/xf/threads/confused-on-dynamic-mode-exhaust.260569/ - the original poster said - "if you're in dynamic mode and you switch the engine off, then switch it back on, the car is no longer in dynamic mode! Even though it states it's still in dynamic" - the second poster replied - "You may have to get out lock/unlock the car to reproduce the issue of not being back in dynamic mode." - I am unsure what this means, is this an issue, or something I'd need to manually change back to Dynamic every time I start the car?.
Aside from this, I love the car! And I cannot wait to get the new model in a year or so, as I cannot believe the 2016 model has no Apple Car Play, and no progressive indicators. Makes no sense, as I have seen 2015 Audi's with the progressive indicators.
Thanks so much in advance for any advice.
