Grinding noise

Has anyone come across a grinding noise that happens on start up and when revving in park and in the first three or so gears. it stops if the aircon is engaged. Switch of the aircon and it's fine for about two miles or so then it starts grinding again , aircon on and it goes.

Check the belt tensioner and all the pulleys the belt drives. Take the tension off the belt and turn the pulleys by hand.
