So I'm fed up with the 19" Pirelli Pzero Tyres on my 2016 allroad flat spotting so i've decided to get some new wheels. With 20" tyres being a very similar price to the 19's I've also decided to go for genuine Audi 20" rims and have new Michelin Super Sport tyres fitted to them. I'll then get some winter tyres for the 19" rims.
My question is that I am confused with the part numbers for the 20" rims. The part number for the wheels I have bought off ebay which are off an ex demo in germany and promised to be perfect (14 day money back guarantee) is 4G9 601 025 B. I called the dealer today to check and these are the right wheels for my car BUT the new part number is 4G9 601 025 G. I asked why now G and not B and was told probably a change in manufacturer. So I checked on line here http://audi.7zap.com/en/rdw/audi+a6+allroad+quattro/a6ar/2016-738/6/ and both part numbers are listed. The B is listed for winter tyres and the G for summer tyres. Both rims are identical in looks and have the same PCD, offset etc. Any one have any ideas as I'm a bit nervous I've bought some old discontinued for safety reasons wheels (they were discontinued in July 2013) that may be inferior to the current part number or was the B for winter use so a better paint finish?? Thanks in anticipation.

I wouldn't worry. If there was any kind of safety issue they would have been recalled. I suspect you are entirely correct that the issue is due to better protection on the winter wheel against salt and corrosion. They both seem to be made by Ronal.

Thanks for taking the time to find the links and the words of reassurance. It's quite and expensive purchase although a lot cheaper than new rims. The dealer wanted £800 for one!!
