2.0T S Line Special Edition 2006, is it worth me doing these modifications?

No I ordered some and they were wrong so I sent them back.
I've ordered some other 90mm ones from eBay. They look OK but we'll see.
Not really keen on spunking 70 quid plus couplers etc.
If the ones I've ordered look OK it's 30 quid all done.

Davis keep us posted with some pics of the tips...

The cam follower - do I get a genuine Audi or is there a specific make I should buy?

Rob, what's the name of the company you got your tips from please?

Hi Carl, thanks but link isn't working or am I doing something wrong?

Never mind got it, thank you.

You'll need couplers also as the inlet is 58mm.

Same type as mine apart from I went with polished stainless instead of the black chrome.

I couldn't tell you if they will fade or not but mine slid over my old tail pipes after cutting off the existing trim. They were a really nice tight fit and a few spots of weld to hold them in place and job was a good one!

101 mm dia may be a bit tight in the valance appertures, mine are 90mm and leave a nice even gap around , did try 100mm but looked abit jammed in to be honest so went 90mm and very pleased with them.

Okay, looking at your photos Rob the tips look perfect! I really wanted 100 mm..... Carl would you mind posting a pic of your 101 mm tips, just want to see how much of a difference it looks between the 2! Messaged the seller who confirm the chrome black does not fade but no polish is allowed!

Ahh that's 2 votes then... No worries Carl, I'm set on 89mm just need to decide on colour! Thanks

I've gone for the bodge option.
Got them for just over 30 quid and they are clamped on.
In an ideal world I'd of liked another inch or 2 on the existing pipe but that's my fault for hacking them off.

stainless is pretty well bombproof , easy to keep clean and looks oem aswell, nice contrast against dark color bumpers etc.

Thanks guys.... After all that... Chrome black isn't available in 89 mm! I do agree Rob SS does look nicer with darker bumpers. Oh well as no black are available - stainless steel it is then!
I like this one but there's 3 different prices with the same product code which cannot understand why?

My left back box is blowing does anyone else have the same problem?

David can you not add another coupler between the pipe of the back box and the tip - surely that should stick it out a but more?

i went direct to their own website , didnt go through ebay etc.

I think it is all a bit pot luck carl, I emailed them via ebay to get more details to start with , then saw there advert on amazon and same item was cheaper than ebay, so then went to them directly and they were a better price than both, but I think that was just my luck of the draw that day....

Contacted the seller and they're saying the reason the prices are different because of currency rates.

Hello Guys, I am considering changing the following but do I get the genuine parts from Trade Parts Specialist or is there a specific aftermarket brand preferred here:
1. Cam follower £33.60 @ TPS
2. Diverter Valve £42.00 @ TPS
Also the Forge diverter valve is £170 I think - don't really know why the Forge is so expensive?
thanks

just order the latest revision oem cam follower and dv from tps, that's all you need frankly, make sure your quote you chassis number to be sure you are getting the correct parts for your model.

Are these parts that need changing or is it just recommended that it be done with revised parts?

The forge diverter is so expensive as it is proper vent to atmosphere valve, which also comes with a relocation kit.
Personally i went down tye gfb dv+ route and was quite happy with my decision, but as rob says the revised dv's are also supposed to be good.

Thanks Max, was just reading up on your thread as it goes... I was set to order the OEM but after reading about the seal which apparently isn't great on the Rev D and for the sake of another 60 quid or so I can have peace of mind of having not needing to take this off again should I get the GFB DV+
Having said that I can't find any info on whether there's a difference in performance between the 2.

That was the deciding factor for me, was only having to do it once, because its a b****h to change!
A few people jumped on my thread saying that a tuner, cant remember the name now said they are unnecissary and lose power, thats the only report ive read and i havent noticed a loss in power at all, in fact i noticed afted a few days the car seemed to pull better at low revs on a standard map than it did with the oem part.

If the cam follower "plays up" your in serious trouble as by that time it will probably have ruined your camshaft and fuel pump, i had mine changed recently as i had no history if it being done and luckily mine was ok. For the sake of a 50 pound part and an 30mins-1hr fitting its well worth it for peace of mind.
The dv isnt going to cause you catastrophic engine failure if it goes wrong but it will create a boost leak, and make your car seem alot more gutless

I'll be picking up the cam follower and believe I need a O ring too? on Monday.
Will be changing the DV too.

Thanks for that.
I'll have a look through my receipts etc for the car and guided on changing it.
I reckon I'll probably do it myself.

if you buy an oem dv then it will almost certainly be the newest revision and will outlast your ownership of the car , had mine done 12 months ago when the turbo was replaced for the latest and it been fine , I doubt I'll need to ever change it again whilst I own the car.

You're right Rob, Monday I'll be paying TPS a visit and order both! Thought about the DV+ but considering it's double the price of the OEM I think I'll stick to the OEM! Thank you once again for your advice. Half the time I don't even know what I want - or is it all the time!!!

Been looking online and forgot the very important bits like my engine is actually out of a Golf and not an audi lol.
Oh well.
:)

ps just came across this from a Golf forum-
"If you get an AXX make sure it has the Revison B cam fitted, the Rev A wears cam followers out quickly. I would get a BWA for piece of mind."

Worrying as the whole mystery of my car is its AXX engine, when was is fitted, by whom and why.

As said before I was tempted in having a recon'd BUL engine put in it for piece of mind but A its expensive and B why fix it if its not having problems.

I was chatting with a guy local to me that is very well up on all things vw/audi more audi to be honest but still very knolwedgable chap, has a mint UR in his garage , anyway, from his experience the BUL is by far the best version of the 2.0tfsi engine group, it can still suffer from well documented problems but for the most part these are down to poor maintaince etc, a lot of the parts used were actually revised parts to start with so never really suffered from issues that effected other engine codes of the 2.0tfsi engine, a well maintained lump will perform very well and be problem free for many years and miles , just a shame it was only fitted to such a small group of cars.

Thats what makes me wonder when every engine supplier I contact has always got one in stock, I knew they weren't that common.
Used engines are a bit more believable.
:)

you can still get a short or full BUL engine from audi, just don't ask how much......cheaper to just buy another car.

About 6k I think. :(

As said before my car was £5250 with FSH at 74k.

Need to spend 6 or 7 grand to get similar.
