A4 b6 avant advice

Looking into getting a b6 A4 avant, ideally I'd like quattro (is it worth it?) I'm struggling to find any 1.8t quattro avants about at the 3-4k Mark, so Ive looked at the 3.0v6 and the 2.5tdi, all the 1.9 tdis I've seen seem to be intergalactic mileage or a poor spec. Which is easiest to live with day to day? Fuel wise I can live with low to mid 20s round town.
I'm a bit of a noob with audi to be honest
Any help or advice will be appreciated

Having owned a 1.9tdi Quattro Sport if I had chance to go back I wouldn't buy the 4wd version again, even though I have an S4 now . The fuel economy was quite poor compared to the 2wd and the number of times I needed the 4wd in 4 years I could count on one hand. So I would say unless you plan on driving across muddy fields regularly then the 4wd isn't worth it but at the end of the day it's personal choice.

What are the problems with the 2.5 v6 tdi that everyone speaks of? I tried searching but couldn't find anything
