Aircon Advice

HI All ,
I'm after a bit of advice ref the aircon on my 2002 S3 , i believe the ac condenser is at fault as it looks oily and the system won't hold pressure . My question is can the ac condenser be removed leaving the rad and fans behind or do i have to remove the front pannel with condenser , rad and fans as an assembly ? Would prefer to
leave the cooling system alone ,

I'm planning on doing this job at the weekend , any advice of how to remove the ac condenser would be much appreciated ?
