Can another cd reciever be used with the audi cd changer?

the audi delta is faulty

cd reciever ?
if by that you mean another CD changer, then yes, but you will need some sort of interface convertor (around 60 quid)

You can use a different brand of changer with the Audi HU (using the right interface (Panasonic, Sony & Alpine), but not vice versa.
If you swap the Delta for another Audi HU then you should be OK but if you're going aftermarket with the HU then sell the changer on ebay and buy a decent one which plays MP3's or just get a CD HU that plays MP3's (10 albums on one CD beats 6 in a changer)

yep, you'll probably need the sony cd changer that goes with the head unit your looking for. Personally, I hate aftermarket head units in audi center consoles, they just do not look right. Have a look on ebay, you'll probably find a replacement head unit for the one you have, just make sure you get the key code !

The delta stereo & its cd changer's are not compatible with any other changers or head units.

You might be able to get a cd to play, but your controls will not work, the cd will just play from start to finish, if at all.

The changer control signals for the delta are non-standard for some reason.
