Correct position for coolant hose

My Audi A3 Sport is a 2005 2.0 tdi. I would be grateful if someone would be good enough to look at their engine to check the correct fitting position of the bottom coolant hose that runs from the header tank then down across the engine mounting before running clear of the alternator and fixes onto a black steel pipe.
My problem is that I have renewed the hose but if you look carefully at the black pipe onto which the hose fits there are two flanges. The question I ask does the hose push over the first flange and sit up to the second one or should the hose be pushed over both? Please see my picture of the black pipe showing the two flanges.

I pushed mine over first only, and second is like stop point for hose. It's common thing on most connections I see on VAGs.
