Audi A4 1.8T 2007, how dangerous to buy it because of a gearbox? Transmission is Multitronic ..
Car with 120 thousand kilometers patient and well-kept.
What do you think ?
I've owned a Multitronic A4 in the past. the car was in great condition with very low mileage, the gearbox on the other hand was an absolute nightmare and in the end I cut my losses and traded it in. The first issue was it wouldn't select reverse the second issue was it would rev right into the red. On both occasion it was put down to the Gearbox control unit being faulty. Not a cheep repair! It's a shame as when it was all working fine it was a really nice car to drive
Plenty of Multitronic boxes about and work well for years. You could say the same for manual boxes, they'll be ok until the clutch or flywheel have problems. Mileage is not galactic on the one you mention but you need to go and have a test drive to make a decision. Don't buy or put a deposit on it unseen.
