wiring to ignition question

Good evening all,

Well I'm not that great at explaining things so go easy on me!
I've been reading a lot of guides online on retro fitting a new head unit in place of my concert.
So I went a head and got a new HU and picked up the pc9 401 leads from halfords! This was the correct set up for the retrofit according to the bloke I spoke to in the shop!
So I get home and plug everything in, It all plugged together nice and easy and I thought that would be it. Nope I'm afraid not! There's no power, no display/power in the head unit!
On my return to halfords I'm told I also need to set it up so the system runs to my fuse box!
I'm very new to this kind of thing, but love to have a go!
Also would I need to earth/ground the system?

The old head unit would of had pos and neg (brown ) to it. Put a test lamp on the leads and turn of to see when you get power.

This is how my old concert is set up, I thought the 901 harness was all I needed, but after reading the guides it's kind of making sense haha!
