Not having much luck with this car!

Its making a single clunking/knocking noise when i'm pulling away from stationary just as the clutch bites and the wheels start to pull the car along. I can only describe it as a pop/ click noise which sounds like its coming from underneath the car somewhere on the drivers side. Sometimes it can be really loud. It is one click/clunk and thats it, until I stop and pull away again. It also happens when I pull away in reverse and has started to do it when accelerating rom low revs.. especially in 2nd gear when I accelerate from a low speed.

I've done a quick youtube vid... noise can be heard best at 00:23 onwards.. Any ideas?

Hi did you ever get to the bottom of this as I've got the same issue on a a4

Process of elimination I reckon?

Start with the brake pads etc to see if they are moving about and also the retaining clips.
Then check out the brake dust shield to see if anything is catching it.
Then move onto the suspension and use a bar to check all the arms and bushes.

Failing that, maybe get it over a pit so that someone can get underneath whilst it moves forwards and backwards to pin point where the noise is coming from.
