Audi S3 Centre Armrest Clip Broke. New Clip. How to Fix?

Hi.

Just got an S3. Centre armrest clip is broke. I have got a new clip. How on earth do I get inside the mechanism in the lid? A new lid is £90 so I don't wish to go down that road or the road where there is magnetics or velcro superglued to it.

Where did you get the clip from as they're usually not available separately.

You have to separate the top fabric from the base, you can reaffix afterwards.

How do you do that? Is the only way to 'pry' it open?
