Hi all,
New to the forum purely because of this issue. Like many people on this thread I bought my 2010 A4 Avant 1.8 TFSI without any knowledge of this issue! I thought I did my research, but clearly not! I've had an A3 TDI for 15 years previously and it was unstoppable, I loved it, so I assumed a car 8 years younger would be even better... how wrong could I be! 3 litres of oil in 1500 miles, smoke coming from the exhaust and tail pipes and lower bumper completely black. Car has only done 39K and has a full Audi service history apart from 1 independant stamp who I have contacted and they have provided details of the oil used.
I don't want to rehash things that have been discussed multiple times already but Just looking for some clarity as there seem to be many different experiences out there.
- What oil do Audi deem the right type of oil to use? I'm no expert on this matter and what is detailed in the manual seems to be called something different these days.
- The car is booked in for the first part of the consumption test later this week. I assume like everyone else I will be asked to go off and drive 600+ miles and return. Any tips on driving during this period? I've seen most suggest back road, stop/start routes as opposed to moterway driving.
- If the car fails, as the owner do I have to do anything or do Audi automatically comeback to you with their decision concerning work etc?
- Lastly, does the fact that the car has low milage (I'm assuming it's low for a car of it's age), does it work in my favour?
Any insight would be much appreciated. I will of course keep you updated on my experience and results!
Fingers crossed!
M
