Newbie looking for some advice.

hi all, recently just bought an Audi A5 black edition that has the multi media unit (sat nav).. I have just bought a cable that runs from the socket in the glove box to connect my usb stick to play music through that. But it's coming up that ami no device connected.. Have I bought a rubbish cable or is there something else I need to do?

Did you get an official Audi MMI connecter or was it an aftermarket adapter?

Aftermarket. Couldn't find an official audi.. It's the adapter that takes a usb stick.. Thanks for the reply

Ah OK, it should work straight off the bat - and should even load up straight away without having to go to source etc. Does sound like the adapter is not working unfortunately, although I'm no expert. What file formats have you used on the USB stick? MP3 or something else? And how big is the USB? I believe 64GB may be its limit.
