What have you done to your 8V today?

Have some leftover carbon wrap lying around here from another project so I might give it a go myself if the magnet comes off easily (think it is screwed on)

It's screwed on from the back.

What you guys thinking of carbon wrapping?
The centre visible part of this phone holder in the below pic. Nothing major
It's screwed on from the back.
Thanks for confirming! I saw a screw on a YouTube video but wasn't sure if that was just the aluminium one...Or if the magnet is screwed even on the plastic model?

Hello,

I know someone did it but I am not able to find it , not from the phone either from the laptop.

Thanks in advance.

Installed the dash cams (front and rear).
Very happy with fuse box access and the great space provided for the power Magic Pro.

Tis the Blackvue DR650S-2CH

That's what I have - good choice !!

Do you have High Beam Assist ? Wondering why I couldn't hide mine out of the way of the mirror as much as you have.

I do (I think)..
The front sensor camera just above the blackvue... and I have the matrix LEDs.

It's dead centre, so from my driving position I do see a little more of the right hand end than the photo implies. If I jacked my seat up a bit, then I wouldn't see it at all.

Few pics from outside the car in the google album (last ones).

Is your dash cam placement not blocking the Matrix / High Beam Assist Camera?

Possibly... but more testing required.

I drove around last night with the dashcam in a few different mounting places with the LEDs on.... and in this location they still appeared to be shadowing out correctly. Getting dark here now, so will head out for more testing/light shining.

The majority of the install threads I read had the dashcam further away from the camera on the rear view mirror.
I guess it's not really possible for the dashcam to be where it is, and not be blocking some part of the high beam assist FOV.

I have some slack in the wires and more sticky pads... will see what the result of further testing gives me.
Need to create a segmented illuminated test wall

Has a red card from the PO for some international post so will collect it tomorrow.

You'll love it Rob!

Think it will be something that I'll wonder how I ever went without it.

I ordered a standard one and a carbon skin one as I have the excellent carbon inlays from @larbel so I'll have one spare to sell whichever doesn't get fitted.

I'll try, for some reason I'm struggling to upload pics. Saying file too big but it's not even a meg.

I have to use an iPhone app cunningly called image size set to 1200 pixels wide before I can upload a pic - 1500 pixels wide is decent for a whole car piccy.

For mobile devices, why not use the Tapatalk app to upload pics for all the forums?

It has indeed! Was a nice surprise as I wasn't expecting it until 22nd according to the canada snail mail site lol

So got the free clear one and the alu one I purchased. Fitted the alu one and to be honest I'm not sure I would prefer the clear one at all (contrary to when I ordered I thought I'd prefer clear).

The alu one is at least 3 or 4 times thinner I'd say. The clear one is about 4mm thick almost whereas alu one is so thin I actually bent it a bit out of shape by dropping it (easily bent back).

LOVE IT! Magnet is super strong. Doesn't look like the phone will budge at all

Thought it was a bit expensive, but I think it is well worth it after fitting.

One tip... A guy at work told me after I stuck the thing to my phone, that his Samsung GS7 was slightly magnetic already with no metal plate. So depending how strong that magnet is on the clearmount (seems VERY strong) you might get away with not needing the plate on your phone depending on the phone of course.

Very happy overall!

Was also a slight concern about the screw on the back scratching the dash, it is within probably 2mm from contacting the dash... doesn't seem like it is going anywhere once it is clipped behind the vents, but maybe best to put a tiny bit of electrical tape (or some other thick tape) over the screw just in case? You won't see it anyway and it will prevent any possible damage should you be a bit heavy handed with the holder over time causing it to come in contact with the dash

No chance that thing is moving after installation. You'd have to literally press the metal plate and bend at it's joints with the vents to make it touch the dash.

Thanks for your observations re: the clear mount. I'm glad Carl changed it to metal because the clear always looked acrylic plasticky to me. The black aluminum piece blends much more into the dash. I used the rectangular metal plate sitting vertically (vs. smaller round plate) on back of my phone to give more vetical adjustment with the seating.

No worries I may leave it then, as you say it is pretty solid

Yeah I liked the idea of the clear one but was somewhat put off after seeing it in person, especially next to the aluminium one lol

They're on, got the 034 dogbone mount on this morning as well. Thought it may sit a little higher, will get the springs in the next month or two.

I think Carl lowered the price by $3USD. A month ago the classic aluminum were $29USD/ea.
Thank you for sharing the website... I appreciate it! Thanks everyone for the great reviews. It's been a long journey to get this product perfected and I really appreciate all my customers in the UK who took a chance on me. I am so happy you all love it! Cheers
