Hey guys and girls!
This is my first post here so go easy on me. I have read a lot of the forum threads but have never signed up until now. The problem i have is with an aftermarket HID kit which was installed to my car today.
My car is a 2006 Audi A3 2.0tdi 170DSG. I have the reflector housing which is why i bought the H7R bulb kit off a friend who got it from HIDS4U. Now i brought it to a professional fitter and did not attempt to install it myself as i have no idea how these things work! The kit came with HIDS4U's relay harness which is meant to solve the issue of the dreaded wiper blade motor i had been reading up about. Now the first thing the fitter said was the the bulbs were not that great as it had plastic bases i believe and kept popping out while he was trying to fit it. He told me metal bases are a much better fit, however, he did eventually get it in and seated correctly. Secondly he told me the wiring harness was not good at all as it had "ohm resistors" is this correct information? Anyways to cut the long story short he fitted the entire kit but despite these ballasts having "canbus error free" written on them the fault like still managed to come on for both headlights which I'm really not happy about BUT THIS IS LEAST of my problems.
Now i know what some people are going to say, putting HIDS in reflector housing is a no no and normally i would agree but my first car was a fiat punto and it had a aftermarket HID kit fitted to it when i bought it and that had no issues was so ever. The glare was minimal, the lights went very far and it was very bright. I even drove past it with a friends car to see if it was blinding and it was not at all. So i thought heck, if a punto can be half decent I'm sure an Audi will do fine! how wrong was I. Bellow is the pictures i took of the Audi after the HIDS were fitted. The beam pattern is all over the place! they don't even go that far and I'm sure they are right in oncoming drivers eyes as i seem to get flashed quite a lot now. My original bulbs were far better then these lights and to be honest i wish i didn't change them at all now! is there something the installer done wrong? will normal bulbs work better with metal bases and no anti glare build in? will the pattern always be like this no matter what bulb or kit i use?
Any help would really be appreciated, if its going to stay this rubbish no matter what i do i will get my brother to take the whole kit out when he is free and go back to the stock bulbs! please give me some good news that this can be fixed easily!
P.S SORRY FOR THE LONG POST
