1.4 TFSI Timing Chain Replacement

I've just bought the wife a 1.4 TFSI with 90k on the clock. 2011 model so mostly motorway miles.

Should the timing chain be replaced on this and if so at what intervals?

I've spoken to a few garages and no one really seems sure. From what I know, if a car had a chain you'd never replace it, but as I understand the newer cars do need them changed.

Also, what sort of cost would you expect?

the chain is non serviceable item and should last the life of the car.
