OK I bought my first Audi four years ago on a five year plan. Starting to look for the replacement in case the lead time is long.
but... I have a A3 TDI 170 quattro sport. Very nice car , but we do lots of short journeys and was not aware of DPF issues. So next time looking for petrol. Would be nice to go up a bit in power , but not looking for a boy racer (i am 58 and would look silly) . Subtle and quick is what I would like. The S1 can be Subtle , but a bit too small. Mrs M loves the A3 and so would stick to that.
However the choice is 180HP or 300 ! What happened to the nice mid range engine in the Golf Gti or the new TT at around 220HP that would be perfect....
Mrs M does not like auto (she drives it 80% of the time) , but no Quattro without S tronic ! WTF. Is there a techy reason why guys ?
I went to my local dealers and all the cars are so blinged up, they seem to be pushing the boy racer image which seems to really get up the nose of most other road users.
I am not ready for my pipe and slippers yet , but begining to think I am not their target audience anymore. The BMW X drive beckons... I got a brochure of the new TT . No real mention of the engines, and hardware ... but lots about pretty lights and stuff.... Perhaps I am a grumpy old sod , but I'd rather know about the engine than fairly lights on the front...
