Hi guys, I have a 2.0T A3 and will be taking it on nurburgring some time next summer.

I was wondering what modifications/ maintenance are recommended for enjoying the track, I've come up with a small list, if anyone could add to it I would be grateful. I already have, remap intake exhaust and uprated DV.

- Uprated Anti-Roll-Bar
- eibach springs
- fresh oil change
- michelin pilot super sport tyres all round

Brakes.

I think any track will give the stock brakes a bit of a workout,as the car is quite heavy, and repeated braking from speed will get them very hot quite quickly.

Other than that, oil and other fluid levels, preferably recently serviced, and budget on a lot of petrol...then enjoy.

I loved the AMD day at Brands a couple of yrs ago,but the VWR brake kit I had on my car took a fair beating, and the DS2500 pads did exactly what DaveB said they would, and just gave up eventually.

Maybe get those things done, and book yourself a trackday over here first to iron out any adjustments you want to make before going.

Would recommend you fit some fast road pads and high temp brake fluid at the very least.

I've been on the 'Ring a couple of times and the only issue I had was the traction control. For some reason once the brakes have got a bit hot the car starts to kick the traction control in more often and this restricts your power. When that starts to happen you need to turn it off.

All your suggestions sound ideal.

Braided brake lines. Better brake fluid and pads. I remember stock s3 brakes letting me down after few laps on a 3,5km track and the ring is 20km...

I've never been to the 'Ring, and I guess it's on my bucket list for sometime, but from reputation it would be the last place I'd want to run out of brakes at.

Like I said above,my VWR kit was seriously hot after 10 laps of Brands and stopping from 120mph,so I can't see how a stock kit would last.

I recommend you don't drive beyond your limit or hit the armco, heard it's expensive.

That said everything above is good advice.

I like that....

It's all too easy find one's limits unexpectedly.

We had a lad hit the armco in his 8L S3. They had to replace 6 as they're 3 high and he hit in the middle of the two sections. His total bill was 1200 euro.

Can't believe I missed out brakes!

Any recommendations on pads/discs? I've heard ebc pads squeal very bad?!

Like my old Cosworth man used to say,and apologies to the ladies...."ABS is for girls..." when I asked him if my Escort had that...

OK...DS2500s are a good road pad,but as I found and DaveB had told me,they crapped themselves all over my discs on a trackday.
Personally I don't like EBC Redstuff as they simply squealed like pigs, and didn't work any better than the stock pads, but some people swear by them.

If you can get them in the right sizes,I currently use Mintex 1155 pads, which are probably a bit aggressive but they do work very well.

Discs....I'd go for a big brake kit if possible, and failing that maybe ZeroSixty discs(I've got those on the rears).

As silly as it sounds practice on Forza,if you go on it daily you will learn the track like the back of your hand.
