Hi guys,

Managed to nab myself a set of 17s at a decent price this week, nothing special just 5 spokes but better than what's on it!

They could do with a refurb (general kerbing etc.) and I'd like to get them sorted in anthracite maybe

Roughly how much should that cost could anyone advise, split price if possible for refurb and spraying (I know that's sort of a how longs a piece of string question!) I don't wanna pay massive amounts for Bentley-worthy work..
Would anyone recommend anywhere in particular in the warwickshire/west mids area?

Last question is regards alignment, is this really necessary? Surely if it's ok as it is essentially changing a tyre wouldn't change much would it? Again advice on price and recommendations appreciated!

Cheers guys!

There was a thread on here the other day I responded to about wheel refurb. had some 17 inch wheels done at Prestige wheel centre in Birmingham.

Very impressed they were like new, if you pay cash the price is cheaper, well it was when I asked.
For alignment I took my car here and was very impressed, full hunter alignment for £38. They altered front toe, and rear camber on the one wheel.

Cheers Karl that's great,

Prestige look a good bet will enquire with them!

I did see your post about aline in the midlands section and have taken a look, although the website says 60£ for full alignment - you get mates rates or something haha?
Any advice as to whether alignment is necessary just for changing rims? I guess it fades with age/potential knocks through the cars life but my tyres don't have any uneven wear that I can tell!

I had the alignment on my car checked because it is 6 years old and has done 80 odd thousand miles and I had lowered the suspension. I think the full price is payable if they adjust everything camber, caster , toe etc. As they only did the front toe, essentially the tracking and adjusted the camber on one wheel that doesn't count as a full alignment and is £38.
Comes with a printed report.

Just found the alignment document I had from A line

Front camber is just a touch over spec on the NSF, as the guy said it's possible to balance the camber side to side by loosening the front subframe bolts and sliding the lot across but the amount of work involved to reduce the camber on one side by about 0.07 degrees is just not worth it.
The camber readings are only just out of spec for an S-line with sport suspension, the Eibach kit I have fitted takes the suspension a little lower than this and the lower you go the more camber you get front and rear due to the suspension geometry.
But at least it is adjustable on the rear, on the front you need adjustable top arms which are silly money.
Karl.
