HI. AUDI A4 TDI 110,HAS A FLAT SPOT BETWEEN 2500-3000 RPM. COULD THIS BE THE MAF SENSOR, IF SO ,WHERE IS IT ? ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

The MAF sensor is located by the airbox it is like this
http://cgi.ebay.de/NEW-Air-mass-flow-met...1QQcmdZViewItem

I would check for boost leaks all hoses that are from and to the turbo to the intercooler try and see if you can take them off and inspect them

Other things are EGR valve which is located by the by the exhaust manifold/inlet manifold looks like a thermost maybe sticking ..best way to check is to rev up engine and see if diaphram moves the slider open and shut

What is the mileage on the engine and is it PD or non PD

Cheers

The car will not run without an air mass meter

Chris,

I thought that disconnecting the MAF was for testing if it was actually faulty?
If there is no difference in power with the unit connected and then disconnected that proves that it is faulty.
That is how I tested mine, replaced with a spare and got the power back.
If the car runs better with no MAF connected then why have one in the first place, it must be there for a reason?
Jim.

disconnecting the MAF is one of the easiest ways of troubleshooting a completely failed MAF.
