Im really hoping someone can help with this. I do 500 miles a week and for some time Ive had a problem
with the car going in to limp mode. Usually in the fast lane of the Motorway with a vauxhall Vivaro van closing in on me!
I have to switch the ignition off, turn the car back on and off it goes, boost having been restored.
The car is a 2007 Audi A3 2.0 TDI sport 170.Audi have diagnosed as follows,
Intake Manifold change over valve diaphram split. They have quoted me £788 for a new manifold.
I have seen the odd bit of info about repairing the manifold.
Any advise would be very much appreciated.

Has anyone else suffered this problem? Im begining to think it could be a rare prob. Im begining to think I may have to pay the main dealer.Any advise would be really appreciated. The car is great. bought it with 29k 4 years ago and it was like a new car. Now on 125k, full Audi service history and its still looks mint. I really want to solve this prob as i think its good for another 50k.
Thanks guys.

If in doubt get a second opinion and another fault scan done elsewhere.

At that age and mileage you'd be better going to a Audi specialist for the work.

Thanks for the reply a6-chris. Ive had it done by Audi twice. The first time I told them the problem during a routine service and they diagnosed this. I then lived with it for a while and took it in to a different dealer, paid the £60 to be 100% sure. They said this was definately a fault which needs fixing. The car does react as if this could be the case. It is fine in low gears, but sometimes in 3rd and 4th theres no power and then the turbo cuts in as if it has terrible lag like an old MG turbo. It only goes into limp in 6th gear, you get a slight power fluctuation then it cuts.

Does anyone from my description think this could be a Turbo problem? Audi said they could not be sure the Turbo is 100% until this prob is fixed. I will be very disappointed if it is as Ive had it serviced correctly and its spent its life in 6th on the M40. My previous mk4 golf 1.9 GTDI drove perfect when I traded it at 175k. They were good cars those mkk4s

Take it for a 2nd opinion at an independent Audi Specialist, not an Audi dealer.
State your location and we can advise a company local to you.

Another thing i forgot. The glow plug light comes on when the Turbo packs up on the motorway. I think the error code was for under boosting
