Car doesn't seem right

When cornering, well hoofing it around roundabouts is it normal for the back end to suddenly step out and then snap back. other times it just slides sideways with no warning which is a bit worrying.
It's a normal front wheel drive a3 1.8t
are there any suspension or steering parts which are common to wear out?

Nout wrong with the squishy bit. I don't mind the lift off oversteer it's the nasty snap back I don't like

Sounds like you're over correcting it.

Or driving too fast for the public highway
