Hi guys,
I've decided I'm going to install a front mount intercooler on my 1999 A3 as it is desperately needed with these 40 degree days in Australia that we have been having lately.
I have read through all the intercooler threads on this forums (mainly Tuffty's) which have all been a great help. However one thing that isn't raised in these threads is using the existing piping from the turbo to the standard side mount intercooler.
Is it possible for me to take out the side mount whist keeping the piping from the turbo to the side mount and then adding some extra piping so it will reach where the front mount will sit. To explain this a little better I used my amazing drawing skills to make a diagram explaining it a little better.
Diagram 1 below shows the current standard piping (I note that the throttle body is actually the other way around however that doesn't affect my question and I thought it may be easier to draw and explain with it facing the other way)
Diagram 2 shows the piping I want to reuse in red with the new piping added on so it can reach the front mount.
Will there be any issues or reasons why I shouldn't do this? It will just be a lot easier than having to replace all the piping that already goes where I want it to (from the side mount to the turbo).
Thanks for your help!
