Installing a performance chip 1.8t

Tuffty do you know of anywhere to get a generic tune that I can plug and play? As not many places here in Australia specialise with Audi's and the places that will tune them charge an arm and a leg

What engine code?... now that we know you are Aus based I am sure our Aus members can 'chip' in and help :)

I found the following number on a plate in the engine bay, "WAUZZZ8LZYA014955" is that what you are referring to? I'll have a browse on the nefariousmotorsports forum thanks for that.

edit: I forgot to mention your great pun, extremely relevant

That number is your chassis number... engine code is on a tab on the head... its poking out towards the front of the car on the left as you look in the engine bay... yours is most likely either an AUM or AGU...

NefMoto is mostly centred around american spec cars and more specifically S4's... if you want to learn to flash software in yourself you will find info out about how to do that there along with tools required... there is also good info about the ME7 ecu's...

If you want to learn to 'tune' your car its a good start but.... its not going to be easy, ME7 (assuming yours is an AUM) is very complex...

NefMoto will flash your car , and should be ok for the old generic maps, make sure you save your old file..
Just remember there are risks like anything, and if anything goes wrong you may need an hard reboot that will mean opening the ECU

There is no hope for humanity with this level of stupidity

I'm obviously new to working on cars, there is no need to be a jerk about it.

Thanks Tuffty, I'll check that out tomorrow when there is a bit of light! If the girlfriend lets me on Valentines Day... :whistle2:

Also I'm not particularly interested in learning how to tune, I just know for my other car you can buy generic tunes (which get you 500rwhp with my particular car  ). I was hoping you would be able to purchase a generic tune for the a3 and since they are a turbocharged engine running such low boost you would hope to make reasonable gains with one (obviously not as much as a custom tune).

A jerk....never been called that before, although had much stronger words thrown at me

I will add that to my CV :beerchug:

Good luck with the car..........

I didn't call you a jerk I implied that you were acting like one. But thank you for the encouragement however sarcastic it may have been, if you ever need a reference feel free to put my number down ;)
