Hi all, been a while since I posted here but I'm at my wits end with my current B8 Avant..

I bought it in March this year, 09 2.0T FSI Avant and after a few months I started getting issues with misfires and running on 3 cylinders..

First time it happened I thought I was running out of petrol. It was pretty low on juice and seemed to stutter a little. I pulled into the petrol station, put some in it and it was very hard to start afterwards..

When it did eventually start it was only running on 3 cylinders and there was lots of whitish smoke with a really strong smell of unburnt petrol.

The mechanic came and diagnosed it as a coil pack failure on cylinder 3 but when he changed it it made no difference..

I decided to try and drive it home, it was stuttering and chugging with the engine management light flashing and the epc light on too. After a bit I tried to really floor it to see it it would help.. And it did, seemed as if when it hit 4000rpm it just sprung back into life.. The mechanic reakoned it just needed everything cleared out after the coil pack change...

The mechanic also did a service and changed all the plugs the following week as he said they didn't look great..

Fast forward a few weeks and the exact same problem.. Chugging, flashing engine light and white smoke belching out the back.. This time cylinder it was cylinder 2..

Mechanic comes again with another coil pack but this time it really doesn't fix it at all so he changed the injector and away it went..

For another few week.. Then same prob on cylinder 2 again.. Went to another mechanic this time, told him the history and after a few days he came back and said it was a faulty camshaft actuator plug, changed it and said that was it sorted..

Same thing happened within 10 mins of collecting the car, went back to him and he done a lot of stuff with it on the computer and said he needed to reset some sensors or something like that and gave me the car back again..

It seemed OK after this for about 3-4 days then on the weekend past it did the same thing but only very briefly,.. It chugged, engine light came on and then went off again after a min or 2..

Has anyone any idea what could be wrong.. I'm at my wits end with this car and no longer trust it.. I'm just always expect it to break at any minute

Thanks

Just maybe a wrong, or confusing question, does that car use quite a bit of engine oil - and if so how much over a 1000 mile period?

It doesn't. But I know I had an engine rebuild and conrods replaced for this problem in 2015 under warranty..

The dealer didn't tell me about this when I was buying the car, otherwise I wouldn't not have bought it.. Only found out from checking through its documentation.

Good enough!

So we can dismiss any of that meaning or contributing to this issue, a proper Audi or VW Group indie should be able to sort that problem out - if not why are they operating in a way that makes it look like they know what they are doing, they do get specialist training and have the tools!

Edit:- I would not be messing about using friends of friends or mates that "know" what they doing - unless they work as a Tech or a Master Tech in one of the operations I've described as it could be that you are paying peanuts and getting a monkey/donkey to work on your car - sorry if I'm wrong, but this should not be happening.
