Lads, I know these posts are done to death but looking for some quick advise on this. I know the 2.0t's are notorious for burning oil (especially the B7!) Ever since I bought mine it was burning a bit of oil every few weeks. After I had the car mapped and in for a service at my local specialist they changed the oil from the standard 5w30 to Fuchs Tital GT1 5w40 as it's a thicker oil and should help with the burning oil issue. It was serviced only 3000 miles ago and when I went and checked over the weekend the oil its down to the 'MIN'!!

Can anyone shed some light on this? Motor factors advised on some Lucas Oils additive which helps slow down the burning oil but I haven't tried it yet. Little frustrating now as I thought the change in oil would have cured the issue..

Any help would be appreciated.

Replace your PCV valve to the newest revision and that should help. Mine was stuck open.

Thanks for that. I had mine replaced at that service interval along with a new cam follower, so wouldn't be that.

Unsure of what else could be causing it.

welcome to the oil drinkers club chap, mine still drinks it, nowhere near as much since I changed to titan pro 5w - 40 but still uses a bit, its the nature of the engine i'm afraid , some drink litres other just small amounts and also depends on if the car is mapped and to what degree and how you drive the car.
I have just accepted it now, maybe still going with a pcv delete to help reduce it a shade more but like I say pretty well accepted it as part and parcel of tfsi B7 ownership.

Thanks for that Rob, I knew they were bad but just thought the oil change would have slowed it down even a bit. Such a pain though!

I still love the car regardless :)
