...the end is nigh for the audi warranty on my A3 1.9TDI /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif, so i've decided to look into possibley extending it for another year or two.

Is it worth it? plus which company's are worth looking at for warranties?!

gonna have the same problem in a while to. If i can afford it though, i'll probably go with the Audi warranty still, yes i know its £890, but in this term, ive had:

Throttle potentiometer £350
Rear boot struts £?
Lambda probe £80

5 hours labour £500

I reckon its kinda paid for itself this year.

Plus, take into account the RAC and audi-on-call cover that you get which includes accommodation, hire car and expenses should you break down.

The only downer with the audi warranty is that it doesnt include the costs for any "diagnostic" work, so you have to pay them to find the fault, then they repair under the warranty.

Do they do a monthly payment option for this cover though?

£890 /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked2.gif i hope thats for 2 years?!

still even at that priced i'd expect a free tv and hooker!

Nope, thats for one year which is an absolute joke - kinda sums up their confidence in their products being reliable.

Incidently i pay £625 a year for the 911 Turbo with Porsche UK.

one year?!?!!? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked2.gif thats a /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/swear.gif rip off!!

don't think i'll be goin for the audi cover then, does anyone know any 3rd party companies that are any good?

Sinclair Audi Swansea quoted me £750 for one year unlimited mileage.

Just renewed my warranty. Audi no longer provide the cover but outsource it to Mondial Assistance who underwrite the policy, cost me £872.00 for a 80k+ mileage S3. Looked at Warranty Direct and RAC and neither could compete.

Plus got a new engine fitted as the first claim on the warranty so I can't complain.

unfortunately not. Most are apparently not worth the paper they are written on.

I am also yet to hear of anybody manage to get any work done at an Audi dealership under one of these third party warranties. From other peoples experience, the third party company approves the work, then sits on the cash and is lax about paying the garage doing the work. The end result is that garages now wont touch them with a barge-pole. The real test would be to ask your local audi garage/specialist who they would be happy to accept a warranty repair through.

Out of them all, the Audi one seemed to have the least restrictions regarding what can be claimed.

Just read the fine-print.

Has anyone had any successful non-audi warranty claimes through an audi dealership? If so, how much was the total of the claim? etc etc

I just purchased mine from Clicky here

Cost £260 ish and seems to be the one the majority of the guys over on the TT forum recommend.
Plenty of good stories about them if you do a search on that forum.

Warranties direct take a right slating on the same forum, so I would never touch them, especially when they are circa £550 for the year. (although I was just 2 days away from purchase when I found out, lucky escape me thinks)

I've not bothered.

No chance was I going to go with the Audi warranty.

Stories of non-Audi warranty providers trying their hardest to get out of payments, charging an excess for each claim, capping hourly labour rates etc etc has really put me off that route too.

Think I'll take my chances with no warranty.

Well I've bit the bullet and gone with the Audi/Mondial Warranty as of today.

It did smart that the extended warranty was more than my insurance this year.

I'm sure my MkIV Golf was much, much cheaper when I extended the warranty on that... I guess that's payback for 'moving up the brand chain'.... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Well i phoned my local stealer to find out what they offered warranty-wise and which 3rd party companies they would except...

audi warranty is well a rip off, so i've ruled that out (700 quid plus!!)

they did say 3rd party-wise they wouldn't turn any of them down, althou they did warn me that most of them aren't worth the paper there written on and don't cover certain parts or the Audi hourly rate of 92quid!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked2.gif (i'm in the wrong job!)

Warranties online does look interestin need to check what they don't cover thou!

...Unless i have money to burn, i don't think my next car will be an audi /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif
