Hi, I recently bought a 1999 A3 1.8T. Seems to have a problem with the cooling system tho as it wont seem heat up past 20 degrees when driving normally. when its driving at low speeds I can hear the fan erratically turning on and off in 10 second bursts.
When the outside temperature is below 0 the engine warning light comes on and then disappears after a few mins.
There is no loss in coolant, the coolant is clean.
Im just wondering if any of you guys have had a similar problem and how you fixed it. Ive bought a new thermostate to replace but am beginning to wonder if it could be something else due to the fans turning on and off.
any ideas?
thanks
Matt
