Doubt they've changed the engines much, so I really wouldn't spec a 2.0 TDi, the engines are a pos! The A4 177 and old 170's are rubbish so you'd be better in a petrol!

I am on my eigth A3. I've had petrol, diesel 140 and 170, manual and s-tronic 3-door and Sportback and my current 2012 2.0TDI-170 s-tronic Sportback is by far the best. It is a great engine with all the power I want and 46-50mpg overall. When I come to change I will be looking for another 2.0TDI s-tronic Sportback. Exactly which model will depend what is on offer at the time.
Wasn't ripped off, I'm lucky to have a good dealer by me unlike most. What will be will be, I can sort of understand where they are coming from, it is nearly two years old£ 145000 ! I get the feeling you were slightly ripped off when you bought the car then

Like your way of thinking, still hard to accept though!By my quick reckoning that's a 43% loss in two years, which does sound a bit harsh for a premium brand such as an Audi.
Then again, A3s are everywhere lately, even black editions, which must be affecting used values, plus with the new model due out soon, that can't help.
Ok so maybe it's not worth quite as much as you'd hoped but, even under the best circumstances, it'd only ever have been worth a few grand more. So don't think of it as having lost £11k, think of it as just having been work £2-3k less than you thought it would be, that's easier to deal with I think
