A3 interior alarm

I have had my a3 for only a couple of weeks and was wondering how you know that the interior alarm is on.
I'm aware that the button to enable/disable is in the drivers side door but is it on when the button lights up or off?

The interior alarm is activated by default when you lock the car.

You only use the button to deactivate it by pressing the door button then locking the car with the key fob.

This should be explained in your owners manual if you are still unsure.

There's a light on the right-hand end of the centre speaker in the middle top of the dash

Flashes when alarm is active.

Thanks for the info. I did have a look in the manual but wasn't sure if it meant the alarm was active or not with the door switch on.
All clear now though!
