My rev counter's completely chucked it now and has a mind of its own, currently sits off the clock on Idle! So I'm going to source a cluster at the end of this week,Few questions needing answered please:

I know its going to need the mileage corrected but is that all? Is it worth the hassle of looking for a 2010 cluster,Pro's and cons?

Thanks in advance:salute:
Mick

You will need to get the imob recoded. Only the dealers can do this. It is only a small job . £40 iirc from previous posts.

Do you know were you are going to get your mileage changed? If you do, let me know :)

With the 2010 unit, I believe you may need extra wires for it to work prop.

Have a look HERE

thanks mate, yeah I had a read at that post a while back but there was that much I couldn't remember! Im trying to work out if its worth the hassle of getting the newer cluster or going for a slightly older model.

As for the mileage correction, Luckily there's a mob not far from me who do it,Dont know exactly where your based mate but its the west of scotland! Ive seen a few clusters on ebay ranging from about 80-120 quid,Id be happy to pay that unless I can salvage one from a breakers.

I get it! So I could say I am currently sitting in an office my my suited and booted mob

I hate you smudge - Always one step ahead!

Oh will you get the 'suggested gear' indicator with the new clusters? Strangly enough I quite like that feature.

I have DSG, so i doubt it

It will go into the gear that it suggests, rather than saying "oooo...loook!!! loook!!! change!!!! CHAAAAANNNNNGGGGGEEEE!!!!"

lol - might ask you later about this around coding and mileage.

If you passing Kilwinning Mick you can see the white cluster i fitted to my car, it looks so much better than the red one. I still havent corrected the mileage yet tho so if you know a mob who can do the newer cluster.... LOL.

If its just the rev counter, maybe a bit of open heart surgery & just swap across the rev counter across. Yours if an FSi too?

I have suggested gear ticked on the DIS but it doesnt work! Im guessing something else would need updating like the ECU or the Central electronic module.

I seen the photo of yours it looks top notch, But then you do have the RNS leds to match. I was Thinking of taking it apart and checking it out but cant really be ***** with the hassle id rather get a more up to date cluster. Yeah mines is an fsi aswell.

Have you tried anywhere to reset your mileage yet?

Ive just spoken to a guy who seems to think he will be able to recode my imob and also adjust my mileage.

He is a mobile chap.

Is this really possible to recode a 2nd cluster for the imobiliser with out taking it to Audi?

Just I remember a few bits like sku code need to be sent to germany etc from a few threads

Scott, where abouts are you again?

I know that N8 got a guy to recode his, and Nige did know a guy as well. I'll try and find out some more info

It can be done without going to Audi i think

Cheers Jord

Great Yarmouth/Norwich Area

I am in two minds as to use this guy or not. He is obviously only doing it on the side as he can only do sat and sundays. I think though during the week, he works for a company doing the same sort of thing.

I would love to go up to See Nige and get it sorted as his place he uses, but it is a fair hike, and the other places I have heard mentioned are the same sort of distance away.

Im seriously worried about this though, as it may be possible he could **** it ALL up.

I would never describe Italy as up from Yatmouth LOL. Any dealer should be able to do it. I got it done at a nearby place thats mostly a Skoda dealer thats also authorised to repair Audis

Immo coding can be done by a number of people, but I always use audi for immo full stop, as anyone could clone the keys whilst doing your cluster, believe me there is kit out there you can place inside the reader ring, it will read then code a new key with the same data, so immo@audi imho.

Mileage correction comes down to 2 ways, audi can do on new clusters or used with less than 100km's in total or they cant change mielage or there are companies that specialise in this & if the persons doing it can crack the encryption with there machines firmware, now when I did mine it wasnt possible, but we are talking just when the white clusters were out, but there have been new releases of firmware for the machines that do these newer clusters which I havnt revisited for, I know some correctors have said they now can change mileage on mine, not sure of the later ones MY10/11 as audi change often, but dont see why not, just have to check the part numbers thats all if MY10/11 have a new part number for the newer cars, then we know they've changed somehow.

Infact glad this thread has come up as its now helped me check for another mod if my cluster is ok for it.

Cheers guys

I did contact my 2 localish Audi dealers, and both were the same.

Ohh it is our policy not to fit anything that wasnt fitted at the factory. :blahblah1: Biggest load of sh1t i've heard ever.

I do have a local skoda dealer though that has been more than helpful in the past . Feel a phone call in the morning. :)

What you said Nige about the cloning when working on the imob has 100% sealed it for me. Deffo aint gonna let someone I dont know take a copy and return under the cover of darkness. And also as he spoke very broken english/polish. I'm not racist but I just dont trust him enough.

So Skoda dealer in the morning, then if thats a no, I feel the only option will be a visit to land of the same same and let someone who Nige trusts to do it.

Then only mileage to sort.

This is so much hassle, but without DIS , half my stuff in my car dont work as it should do. So I need to get this sorted !!!!

Easter eggs LOL

What a load of ****** these dealers spout sometimes, no wonder my dealership was voted one of the best in the country, tbh they are the best, I'd go so far as to say fecking great IMHO, they do anything I ask & dont even question it, at the end of the day they provide a service, they're not there to judge what you're doing, its a business to make money, end of, ytf these dealers turn away good money is so beyond my comprehension these days, really is, not everyone nicks cars, breaks them & fits the bits to there own, which is the only thought process I can think they have atm with these type of dealers.

Who is it i need to speak to at Brighton again Nige?

And then where can i go for the mileage correction?

Right , my friendly skoda place cant do it.

Apparently a recent up date to their software has stopped it working properly on Audi's. They could have done it a while ago, but now they cat.

***

Have now found this place which is local to me. Trying to get hold of them to see if they can do something.

clusterrepairs

Just take a nice drive down towards the south coast & stop being so fecking lazy lmfao, PM me when you want to get it done & I will give them a ring to advise of your call.

If you're intending to do it soon Scott, might as well go down the same day, play on the Brighton beach while we wait :)

I paid £80 for my white cluster, £52 for audi to code, £120 for mileage correction. Sold my red cluster for £120 on ebay.

WIN. WIN and more WIN.
