Been reading about disconnecting the EGR on my 1.9 TDI. Is it as simple as disconnecting the vac pipe from the top of the valve and blocking it off? Do I need to buy blanking plates for the EGR pipe after this?

It is that simple and that will do the job depending on how old your car is. I know on the Passat after mid 2002 it would bring an EML on the car if the EGR was disconnected or blocked. To get around that you need it mapping out.

Karl.

Yes, block with a bolt in end of vac pipe and a slip in blank at bottom of egr feed tube where it meets the exhaust manifold.

excellent! Do you really need the blanking plate, as isnt the EGR valve permanently shut with the van pipe disconnected?

Oh and this wont stop the Anti Shudder Valve from working will it?

Anti shudder still works unlike an egr delete kit.

The egr feed tube will fill with exhaust gasses and these gasses are best used for spinning your turbo, so blank.
