The 8L, 8P and 8V is different codes for that generation of A3. Like MK1 and MK2 used by Ford and Vauxhall. 8L was 96 to 02/03 I think. Yours being a 09 is a 8P. Its all a learning curve. No one was born with a knowledge of everything.

Plasti dip will be fine there. my dip stick and caps all lasted over a year without any issues. Soda blasting? should not damage the plastic but would remove the paint.

Camskill is cheap but you need to pay for fitting as well and unless you got a local fitter that's cheap. I don't find them cheaper than others.
