Covered 22k miles in my S3, long term average (never re set) was 26mpg over the 2 and a bit years. Mixed driving , short runs to work circa 12 miles per day, the odd blast out over the moors and an odd long motorway run every now and again.
Agreed - doesn't look that bad tbh. Panels and maybe a repair to the inner leg.
Looks like the suspension was taken off quite cleanly too - I bed the front engine bed is still true. Bit of a gamble for jo public, but for a workshop with a jig and right bits and bobs would be a easy repair.
Awesome :)
Only thing I forgot to mention is if you change the tyres, make sure you tell the tyre fitter that the tyres need to be fitted reverse / upside down mounted.
They should know what you mean. :)
You really need 4 wheel alignment doing, so if thats what theyre doing great.
What you dont want is a quick - Kwik fit type 'tracking' session.
I've found a place that uses the beisbarth alignment equipment in the north east for this is S-Cars in spennymore - cost was around £45 I think, but I...
Personally I prefer shiney shiney with sprint.
Dont get me wrong it Looks well- I just prefer silver over black
Welcome to S3 ownership :)
Shameless plug warning - I have a twintake in the classifieds for sale ;)
My S3 sportback is going up for sale this week, good spec and priced to sell :)
Looks like I missed a potential customer
I do like the look of the Cupra R though. I remember the horrible green ones they used in the press releases for the R model.
That blue looks well.
Why ? - If your all about full on performance and unsprung weight and gaining every ounce of performance from the car then fair enough.
But as his car appears to be standard - it would appear as though his aim is purely not to shag his road tyres and run some track type tyres, with rims that...
Mate its your car - run what wheels you like.
I have BBS Rims on mine and have centre spigot rings and conical bolts for these. All depends on the wheel specs really on what you will require.
Ok - now I LOVE my buckets - but to answer the OP's question ;)
I have two little ones - a 5yr old and a 3 yr old. They come out in the S3 infrequently to be honest.
There are a couple of things to consider. The seat backs WILL get scratched with the little ones kicking the back of them, but...
 at this thread.
I quite like mine. There is nothing else out there ticks all the boxes for me.
It's quick enough, mine is screwed together well (with no squeaks or rattles yet at 19k)
The handling is not that bad - ok it's not perfect but still not atrocious.
Oh and just to be clear mine does not rub at all on 19x 8J ET44 with 215 35 19's
BUT grip level is compromised.
I know individuals have also been ok with 235's bit on a 8J rim with ET50 rims - aka BBS CH's
I put the screw back in as it made no difference to the rubbing.
It catches on the plastic lip of the bumper bracket and the arch liner. It doesn't catch the screw on mine.
You can see where the paint has been rubbed away slightly.
I 'think' the sportback rear bumper connection is slightly...
You can see here it catches only VERY slightly.
I did consider knocking this plastic lip of with a grinder :o
As you can see - it is only by around 2mm that it catches - but who wants rubbing arches on a £30k car - not me :) so they had to be changed to 215's
