Apart from the generic consumables like brakes etc. the s5's are prone to a clutch issues which requires it to be replaced at a costly 2k. Look out for having to absolutely bury the clutch to the floor to start the car and for a sticky clutch (the pedal doesn't travel back towards you smoothly)...
I used them for servicing once. In terms of customer service they were very helpful giving me lifts to and from work. Cant really comment on the work they did as it was a routine service. They did manage to incorrectly set the service interval in the DIS though but were apologetic and quickly...
agree that badging it up as an rs3 is not on.
I suspect that easily removable mods were taken off prior to going to a dealer in order to try recoup some money.
Been looking at s3's on autotrader and this came up: http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201409167432928
It looks like alot of work has gone into it, is this anyone on here/is there a build thread somewhere? Liking the monsoon grey but a bit of a marmite interior!
I have a 58 reg a3 with Bose audio and a concert 2 stereo (looks like this http://www.bilkomponenter.no/users/kufatec_mystore_no/images/91518_Audi_Concert_II__III_1.jpg)
This dension works: http://www.dension.com/product/gateway-pro-bt
I got mine off Amazon, might be worth a try if you're...
I spoke to a place called fleetcare, were pretty friendly and helpful so I imagine that I'll go with them, although I can't find any reviews of any of the bodyshops local to me in nottingham.
Thanks guys. Went to the bodyshop today who said pretty much that! Needs a new bumper, fog grilles and then get it resprayed.
I may have sourced a new bumper for 200quid. Looking at 100 for the fog grilles from audi which seems steep for some bits of plastic, anyone know of any going second...
which dension did you get? I have a concert II stereo with a dension gateway pro bt and it works pretty well. I have made a mount for the iPhone in the ashtray and am able to browse playlists and control the music through the steering wheel.
As above I agree that an RNSE would be superior but...
Cannot believe this happened earlier, was driving out of the underground car park where I live, started to pull out round a blind corner and clipped my front end on a friend who was pulling in.
Somehow their car came off with barely a scratch, it looks like their tire took hit the lower...
I use parkers valuation guide. Text "PRICE" followed by the reg and mileage to 80806 and it will value the car and give you its list price. It costs a bit extra over a normal text, cant remember what exactly though!
I was thinking about doing this too, however I think its not just bumper off and swap the lights/adaptor over. Do you not need to run a wire to the CEM to get high beam working? Sounds like alot of work! or maybe I'm just being lazy!
thanks for the advice.
As for the legality issue, I was under the impression that although they would pass the MOT they still wouldnt be road legal. Can anyone clarify or point to any documentation? Ive had a bit of a google and cant bring anything up.
so how would you set the beam pattern correctly? I was under the impression you needed auto levellers and washers as a legal requirement? but I too have seen cars with xenons but no washers etc...
I have a dension gateway pro which works well. I run a wire under the stereo to the ashtray where my iphone sits or I just keep it in my pocket and have it connect over bluetooth (although the sound quality isnt as good).
The only bug is that when you select next track there is a second pause...
