Whilst driving the family wagon A3 1.6.tdi (DSG) 2014 s line saloon, this week i felt she had been in need of some attention.
There is a very noticeable strong judder though the steering wheel when pulling away. A horrible grinding noice when braking and coming to a stop like the pads are down...
To be honest with you i want to keep this car as close to standard as possible. I would rather spend the money else where. The wheels have a few light kerb marks for example and a nice new set of rubber would be more up my street.
While iv got you tuffty are there any upgrades that would be of benefit before a re map... Iv heard of people fitting a forge 007 valve to help with lamper accuracy.
The plugs are good only changed 4k mikes ago. As a man in the know do you think it maybe worth changing all four then? Im not keen on replacing parts that aren’t broken but don't wont the hassle of another ruined drive or another limp home situation. Thanks for your advice again mate great to...
Iv just had cylinder 2 miss fire and ground to a nervous halt. Rac were good replaced the coil and was running smooth in no time. The mechanic recommended having them all changed and as im think about a remap soon i think an upgrade may not be a bad idea. Can anyone recommend a better than oem...
Cheers tuffty I thought it must be common. Im tempted to run it through an early mot but really don’t want any advisories for rust on the cars history. Maybe have to get someone to check the drive shafts though as im planning to have it mapped by Amd soon.
Hi mate getting access to a ramp is quite a drive from my house so id rather be prepared with paint or parts. So just asking what others have had to do on theirs.
Its got 90k on the clock owned by 1 owner for 17 years. Iv got stacks of history on it
First time getting the car up on the ramp since i bought it last week. Seems to be a lot of rust on the rear drive shafts (outer sleeving is fully cracked) and rear subframe/axel very rusted hopefully only surface. Is this common as the car is otherwise rust free. Do i need to think about...
I will have get the expansion tank out of the way to get a good look i think. After replacing the taped up pipe i will replace the pollen filter fingers crossed.
The scanner i have isn’t compatible with the old ocd port. I will get it read next week though iv only owned the car a week. Otherwise is mechanically sound and far more enjoyable to drive than my a3 saloon
Ok the problem was a smell of fuel coming into the car when the vents are on. The only smell i could trace was back to that unit i will strip it down tomorrow now i know what im looking at. I didn't want to risk breaking it without knowing the replacement part. Thanks for you help.
I can her clicking from the ot
mine doesn’t make any clicking sound. There is a loud clicking coming from the evap canister though can even be heard with the bonnet closed.
Any idea what would cause the pipes to lift away from the base are they mechanically controlled as they seem to be sprung open. As in the picture posted by Mph
Thanks for the picture, thought they must be but all three are open on what looks like a sprung connection. Any idea what this is unit is called so i can try and find some more info.?
