Wanted to change it so stop start does work.... But every time i change code with vcds, it says 'out of range' when i put in( - 50)
Mine is on (50) so im guessing its been changed at some point...... SHOULD I LEAVE IT DISABLED?

This is what I've tried

Some time ago members were asking if there was any way the Start/Stop system could be switched off permanently using VCDS. Well I have just found this by a member allenlin on the GolfGTI Forum.

1. access 19 Can Gateway
2. click on Adaption-10
3. go to channel (1) Start/Stop...... and change the value from -50 to the new value of 50 - click Do It
4. go to channel (2) Start/Stop...... and again change the value from -50 to the new value of 50 - click Do It.
SOME ARE SAYING ITS A BLESSING ITS DISABLED..... WHAT WOULD YOU DO?

That's the 1st thing i disable.
Extra stress on battery and starter motor. Some even mention stress on timing chain but unsure of that.
I switched that off on my previous BMW and original factory AGM battery went on for 8 years until replacing.

THANKS...... I think i may have a issue with the battery, its not let me down yet, but i fully charged it two weeks ago..... Now i check it and this is what the reading is with vcds, just waiting for someone to tell me if battery is on its way out and thats why stop start isn't working.

I prefer good old fashion voltmeter to check battery. They cost under a £10 on ebay. Not everyone has complex software :)

I think its idea to test the battery after left standing overnight.

Below is a voltage charge guide for the AGM battery from web. You have AGM battery since it has start/stop function.
How old is the battery? If the battery is old it wont hold charge. I tried to save my 8 year battery with a charge but it was too far gone.

Another thing on BMW the start/stop goes to sleep when battery is below 80% charge.. not sure about the Audi as I only got the car less than a month :)

Battery is 5 years old

The above reading was taken the next day, the car was left standing for around 12-13 hours.
Im thinking the state of charge should be 100%?
Not 64% as my reading shows??

Did you find your solution?
I been getting weak battery message on my car so did so digging and used OBDeleven to check health of battery.
Since you have VCDS this video will answer your question.

I followed that video and navigated to OBDeleven and my battery was only 33% SOC and 8AH left of the actual 110AH :(
Your battery showing 64% SOC and only 25AH. I dont think you will get much more on a 5 year old battery. That will explain why the start/stop not working.
My battery starts the car fine but not risking the winter morning so ordered a 95AH Acid Varta.
My car does not have start/stop so not fitted with AGM.

Thanks for the help, i drive my car once a week, but in a week battery should still be nearly fully charged, as i did fully charge it, i will check what soc is tomorrow, see if its gone worse, it still starts so will see what im going to do, might replace it, might leave it till it gives me issues starting, let you know tomorrow.

Here is the battery check 5 days after posting the original vcds image..... Cars not been driven.

One measure of a battery's state of health, in my world is internal resistance, as that creeps up the battery's ability to hand over high levels of current diminishes your battery is showing 6.8milli ohms, my 2011 S4' AGM battery is currently showing 3.8milli ohms - so your battery is a bit down on health when compared with mine.
The other important value is the available capacity in AmpHours, other than discharging a fully charged battery through a suitable high load, I don't know how to truly measure that in a meaningful way.

I'm also not completely up with how the two ways of assessing aging is given.

Edit:- I do have a CTEK Battery Tester and it has been designed and manufactured for CTEK by one of the most respected battery tester manufacturers whose name I've forgotten, when used to check that battery it returns consistently high or close the original rating for that AGM battery which is coming up for 10 years old, ie 825Amp CCA for a battery that started life in February 2011 as 850Amp CCA. In contrast the EFB battery in my daughter's May 2019 SEAT Leon Cupra has dropped from 680Amp CCA to 500Amp CCA, and the EFB battery in my wife's August 2015 VW Polo 1.2TSI 110PS SEL has dropped from 640Amp CCA new to 525Amp CCA int resist 6.0milli ohms this year.

Those CTEK chargers have good reviews. Idea if you drive the car less frequent.
AGM batteries do go on for much longer than Acid but typically cost double :)

I replaced the battery on my 2009 A5 couple days ago. It was genuine Audi/Molly acid. I would think this was replaced at some point as 11 year from a acid battery would be a new record. The car was starting fine but the weak battery message got me worried. I rather replace it now than get caught a cold morning and then have to purchase a low quality and high price battery from local Halords.

There was a Ebay 20% discount so I bougt a Varta blue 95AH 800CCA for £75 and coded it OBDeleven.

When i scanned the car for codes a power management error appeared and it did clear until i replaced the battery and coded it.

Just realised my stop start battery is EFB BATTERY..... Can i charge that with a normal battery charger?
My charger is a : ring rcb 212

Ok..... Ive Plugged my vcds in a different audi A3 with stop start that is working, ive noticed this with vcds..... This is from the A3 2016 that the stop/start is working as normal...... ON my 2015,its saying different in vcds, Here is the picture.

One say prohibition the other one (the car stop start is working) says all releases are present.

Any ideas?
