My recently bought A4 2.0 TDI has absolutely no AC capabilities right now, the air coming out is warm, when measured around 25c!

I initially thought it would be a refrigerant issue, but upon ordering everything I needed it looks like there should have been enough in there, and the system is holding pressure, so now I'm looking to change the compressor.

The engine revs don't change when AC is turned on and I can't hear any life from it, so assuming this is the cause:

1 - Is there anything else I should be looking for?

2 - Is it doable to change the compressor yourself? Looks like it can be done once the system is depressurised from the bottom of the car but I'm a bit worried I won't be able to get the belt back on and tightened properly without taking off the bumper and radiators.

3 - Car is a 2.0 BRD, is 8E0260805CB the only part number or are there others that are compatible?

As always cheers guys :)

It’s illegal to work on the A/C yourself without the correct equipment to recover the refrigerant. You cannot by law vent it into the air.

There are a whole bunch of things that can cause the ac not to work, I highly recommend you find a local ac shop to diagnose the problem, otherwise you could end up chasing your tail and buying and replacing parts that are actually ok.

Fair enough mate, didn't know this.

Will ask a garage to have a look at this in which case.
