Lcd screen on dash not turning on, something draining battery

If the dash isn't turning on, then the battery is either dead or there is an electrical fault, so you need to start by diagnosing the health of the battery, or at least attaching a set of jump leads to see if there is power reaching the dash.

Worth using multimeter and testing voltage. Then if you have fitted anything that shouldn't be in the car ie aftermarket stereo check wiring and i would get car Auroscanned as you can tell a lot from one off those .

Hi guys sorry I was in the middle of writing this forum and I must've hit post when I wasn't finished.

Everything on my days board works execpt for the screen in the middle, I had the battery checked and it seems to be okay. Don't really know much about this but we had the multimeter on it and the guy said it was at 14 or something, when it's supposed to be 12 (when the car is on) but when the car was turned off that number starting going down.

Also really confused about the screen on the dash board because it never starting going dim or flickering it just turned off. But then after using the jump pack to start the car it would turn on, but then the next time I start the car it will not turn on. And yes I have tried to reset button on wiper stalk, it does nothing

Car wasn't starting so I used the jump pack, it would then last a day maybe 2 before going flat and having to use the jump pack again to start it. I have now left it on charge for 24 hours, so I'll see how long it lasts. But still centre screen on dash not coming on, but all other lights on dash working

Sounds like you need a new battery. 14’ish volts sounds right when the car is running a s when you turn the car off the voltage will drop.

See how you go once it’s been on charge - if it doesn’t hold then new battery time.

it could be something as simple as a dash light being blown. A mate of mine had the same thing happen to him and assumed the worst and was going to pay £150 for it to be repaired by an online company. I swapped a few bulbs around and discovered that the one lighting up the LCD screen had blown, so we replaced it for 50p!
We actually replaced all the bulbs while we had the dash out as we knew others would blow eventually.

ALWAYS test the cheapest and easiest possibility before assuming the worse and paying through the nose.

It may be unrelated to your issue but you’ve definately got a bad battery and/or a battery drain so you need to sort that first.
To find if you’ve got a battery drain, when it’s fully charged you need someone to test it again when the ignition is turned off and the key is out to see how much power is being drawn from the battery when you’re not using the car. It should be very minimal I think it should be 0.05 amps or less, anything more than this and you’ve definately got something draining your battery. If it’s less than the 0.05 amps then you’ll probably need a new battery as it will be old and not holding its charge.
Also if the guy who tested your battery said it’s not normal for it to be 14V when the car is running then he doesn’t know what he’s talking about. It should be closer to 12V when the car is off and when the engine is running it could be anything between 13.5V and 14.5V.
Cars do some strange things sometimes when the battery is faulty so I’d defiantly be looking to fix that problem first before messing with the dash etc.

I will definitely pull the dash out and have a play around with the bulbs, did you get a whole new lcd screen or just or bulb for the screen?

Honestly I think the guy is a bit of a ****. I've got warranty for the battery so I think he's hesitant on giving me a new one, the battery has also got a red light. He said it happens if the car is sitting on an angle or something and then said "its really just for shop use, for us to see if the battery is fully charged"

Have you got any fuse taps in the car for running other things ie dashcam , just that i find my battery goes lower than 12v but thats to do with the dashcam set up .

Ok so let's slow down.

1st battery needs testing properly, get it tested with a Bosch or equivalent tool.

Tbh tayna do the varta ultra silver dynamic very cheap & delivered, brilliant battery, I'd swap it out regardless.

Alternators go too, so that's another thing.

If it's the LCD in the Speedo, it's led not bulbs so forget that idea.

Your 1st issue is go fix the power situation then approach the rest.
