Flat Bottomed Steering Wheels make the rockin' world go round ??

Ahhh man you’re joking?!! I haven’t looked closely at them and I’m not with the car at the moment. Do they just say S on them also?!!

calipers and front seats just have S on them.
I think the door kick plates just have S as well.

I prefer round bottoms.
Same with the steering wheels.

To answer your question: yes it is!

With that said I'm not sure you will get the shift paddles if you choose an oem round S3 steering wheel. But I know the heated version is only available as round :D
ar u nuts? all steering wheels new from 2013 or even 2011 has paddle shifts ... I have nice rounded paddle shift and it is awesome and thinner better to hold and grip ...

Hello MSi, this is Nuts:hi:

Let me help you here: "Lenkradheizung" means heated steering wheel (as I'm talking about) and "Schaltwippen" means paddle shift.

So 3 out of 4 steering wheels are without paddle shift on the German as well as the Danish models, so your use of the word "all" might be a slight exaggeration here...

If all steering wheels on the UK market are with paddle shift you may excuse my ignorance but since I'm not from UK I have no basis for knowing that.

And because of the infamous cost savings on the facelift models the standard equipment might have changed since last time you checked.

I much prefer the flat bottom and dont find it chunky. It might be just me but I am sure my PFL was thicker.

I think in UK all stronics has the paddles. At least all my stronic cars(3 so far) have had it but that could be something to do with the spec of my cars and not standard uk spec.
Is the steering wheels not the same as the paddles sit behind the wheel and not part of it since the paddles don’t turn with the steering?

All button sets has paddle shifter connector, lots of people just dig a hole at the back of the steering wheel using the shifter base as template and add the shifter themselves... It's like 30 mins job if you know what you're doing...

I will tell you WHY ST wheel has paddle shift and some (older) hasn't It is because the car is SEMI automatic.. you can flip gear to the right (EU) left (UK) and move up n down or with paddles.. of course manual car no need paddles so therefore there will be no any .. and same it applies to FULLY automatic cars .. no paddles.. just SEMI -AUTO

Huh?? Tons of automatic cars has paddle shifters, RS4 for instance with ZF 8-Spd with torque converter, it's more of a trend rather than dual clutch specific... In fact, lots of higher power cars like AMGs etc has to go with automatic box to handle the torque which DSG/MCT or whatever can't handle, but yet, they all have paddle shifters...

Yep I just bought the 8V S3 steering wheel badge to replace the S badge that’s on the FL S3 cars. I haven’t fitted it yet but it was £25.33 from the main dealer.

If anyone else is considering putting the pre-facelift “S3” badge onto a facelift S3 steering wheel (to replace the newer “S” badge) it is not a straight swap. The mounting lugs for the two badges are in different places so you’ll have to very carefully slice off the lugs from the “S” badge (I used a sharp Stanley knife) and then superglue them onto the “S3” badge after filing it completely flat. It’s not really worth the hassle to be honest, although I’m happy with the result.
