I have a few mates that run tinted plates and they've been stopped before and given a fine and told to put legal plates on. However it doesn't happen often and depends on the level of tint and what kind of mood the officer is inCould you post where you've got your info. Just so I know before I spend out please.
IndividualityWhy would anyone want these?
Are they cool? Is it to stand out? Is it to flout the law?
What tint percentage do you have? Seen 30% as a base.I have tinted plates with Illegal gaps (M13RS U). Never had a problem in 3 yrs. If you do get pulled over as long as you can put a legal set on road-side they can't do anything about it. I keep a legal set with legal spelling in my boot at all times. If I do ever get caught I will be saying 'im ever-so sorry I have come from a show, il change those for you right now'. I will be nice as pie and see if i get away with it. Tinted rear plates look the nuts with my rear end having the audi rings in black and the S3 logo in black.
Bit of 3M tape in the boot with them, no prob

Which supplier did you use?Not 100% sure if I am honest. I did not go silly dark. Not sure if my photo shows it in best light... It looks darker in person. 30% is probably about right?

Don't see the point. Seems a bit sad to me trying to make a plate something that it is not.
Sorry
Managed to install the plates.
Pictures taken with enhanced night mode in phone camera but will take some pictures in day light also.
Comparison of two plates is with visible difference of shade.
I see more and more cars on the roads with them plates so it must be ok.
Time will tell
Please, don't mind the filth on the car. Weekend before the last one, I've came back from nearly 1000km trip and had no time to wash it yet.
There are still Polish, German, Netherlands, Brussels, French and local bugs on the paint.
Wash is due soon

I am totally against mis-gapping registrations or silly fonts.
Not enough is done by the police to put an end to this.
Agree with you but to be fair I’d rather them be out catching the endless scumbags we seem to have roaming around our lawless society.
Wow! That is really dark. Cannot tell yellow background from black lettering anymore.
Had them on mine, lasted about 2 and half months till I was pulled. £100 fine per plate under section 59. Tbh they looked darker than in the picture you couldn’t really see them.
It looks good, but realistically not ideal. If you was caught up in a bump you wouldn’t be insured and if the car was stolen it makes it much harder for ANPR cameras to pick up the plates.

Was the fine for having the wrong size plate along with the tint?

There are no rules regarding the size of the number plate. The rules only cover the spacing between the letters and the edge of the plate. Was the fine for having the wrong size plate along with the tint?
