Hello Guys.

My S3 showed up some brake warnings on my dash. The right Headlight has also gone 2 months ago.

I took it in to Audi and they have told me I need new brake pads all round and discs! plus the headlight at a cost of over £1000

I only bought the car last September. I have done 8000 miles since I bought it from and Audi dealer and the car has done 40,000 in total.

I want to ask.

Should the break discs and light be under warranty I paid for?

when purchased would Audi fit new brake pads? and if they did should they be gone after 8000 miles?

I'm getting other quotes but Audi have kept my car over the weekend and I wanted to get some advice before I go ahead

Thank you

Brake pads and discs are classed as wear , so you are responsible for the cost . Headlight may be another matter . If push Audi regarding that .

I agree with @Scotty75. Brakes pads and discs are general wear & tear items and unfortunately you'll have to bear the costs. For headlight, if the car is still under warranty and it is just tye bulb that needs replacing then again it is general w&t item however, you can try and in some cases Stealership will fix it as a good will. And in case if they don't then it can be bought from @t8ups here on the forum.

I'd definitely take a close look at the disks before agreeing.

Unless they are significantly lipped - all disks get a little lipped over time - then i'd just go for the pads. I'd be surprised if disks need replacing after 40k miles, but its possible. They do like to try it on with disks and pads.

Id also take it to a specialist, even kwikfit, for disks and pads as it should not be a big job but the Audi mark up on parts is hefty.

If you bought from an Audi dealer the headlight should be covered by their Used Car warranty so they shouldn't even be trying to charge you for that.

Great advice thank you

Car is still available yes. I think you need to post on here a few times before you qualify for DM?

Audi quoted me £478 for rear disks and pads on my A3. I laughed and said no thanks, went to the audi garages own parts department bought genuine disks and pads off them for about £110 a think then went to a local garage and he charged me £40 to change them over. So I definitely wouldn’t be paying Audi to do them.
