I need to replace the dampers on my PFL S3. They have nearly 80k on them and it’s all due a refresh. They feel very stiff but have no rebound control. I found that out today! Springs are new Sachs springs from ECP. I do not want to lower the car as I may have access issues into the drive.

Any recommendations. I have called a few companies who advise the Bilstein B4 option is not available. And the B8 needs lowering springs.

Weird that you can get the B4 dampers.. that would have been ideal.

Looking on autodoc at what’s on offer I’d say koni, meyle or trw

The B8 dampers can be used with standard springs on the S3 8P, we'd just need to know the part number of the front springs if they're not genuine Audi ones.

Thanks Damian, great to know. It’s a shame that Eibach don’t do a full spring set. Even if the rear didn’t lower, the springs could still be progressive. Eibach/b4 has been the default and proven option on my past Golfs.

I was going to give the koni FSDs a whirl on my S3. There are 2 versions, most ppl prefer the softer version as it improves the harsh ride that the std suspension has.

Hey @paultownsend,

Don't B6 dampers work with the stock springs?

Also are you sure that the Sachs rear springs are OE (Euro Car Parts code 627446970)? I need to buy some OE rear springs too.

I’m not sure you can get the B6 dampers for the S3? Tbh I’d have gone B4 if available. But the are not.

I’m not sure if Sachs made the springs originally for Audi? However they fit well. Sit as the original springs did, and the Sachs boxes specifically said S3 on them.
