Couple of problems with my navigation system, wondering if anyone has any ideas?

The first issue led to the second one. Recently when inputting a destination (postcode entry via voice) it would find the postcode but then tell me “no street available for *****” so is have to just navigate to the centre of the postcode.

I updated to the latest maps which didn’t fix it so I decided to reset the navigation to see if that would do it which seems to have now added another issue.

When I hit the voice control button and say “enter postcode” (which has always worked in the past, with the response of “please say/enter postcode” from the car) the car now asks me what I want to do, and would I like to enter an address.

Any ideas?

Which form of navigation have you got, the SD based one or the technology pack?

Was your system recently updated other than the maps? I have never had much luck with voice so don’t use it.

Might be long shot but also try resetting MMI. Hold both silver selection bars (Nav / Radio) toward front of car and press down on jog wheel.

Tech pack, hard drive based

Cheers, will give that a go :)

I find the voice command 'drive to' the most reliable approach.

Sorry to hijack this thread but on a similar subject, what's the voice command for 'navigate to home address' - I've never managed to get this to work. (I have got a home address saved in the nav)

Have done a full reset and it’s now accepting “enter postcode” as a command again. Still telling me it has no streets available for any given town

Try '"drive to home address"

Actually 'Drive Home' should do it...

Sounds like your maps might not have updated properly? Just on voice or when you enter an address on the MMI?

Mine is shocking. I can say clear as day a street name and it brings up suggestions for somewhere 200+ miles away with a different name... Siri works perfectly when it's connected to CarPlay but that doesn't help control the cars built in nav...

That did it, thanks! And as per Cuke's screenshot, just 'home address' works. I was always trying 'navigate to home address' which doesn't work.

You are welcome, my previous RSQ3's voice command was 'navigate to', so the '4 was a new experience, I struggled and had one of those RTFM moments..

Doesn’t make a difference whether I enter the postcode via voice or on the MMI it can’t find any streets. It just gives me the option to start navigation to centre of postcode.

Just a follow up to this because I did something yesterday and the car explained to me what it was expecting to hear in a voice command for navigation. It might well have been in the manual but I'm afraid that's a section I must've missed, just in case of any cheeky comments - looking at you @cuke2u. :tearsofjoy:

Jokes aside, I said 'Navigate to TOWN, STREET, NUMBER' and it sent me directly to where I was asking. Previously I'd been going in the opposite order, saying 'Navigate to NUMBER, STREET, TOWN' as you would in conversation but that obviously confuses it badly.

Just thought I'd share in case anyone wanted to try it. :)

I think I was rather refrained this time ;-) . Good you have it working to your satisfaction though...

Car is back from Audi.
They had it for 2 days and were unsuccessful in sorting the Nav issues so the job is still open while they look into it further.

Compared mine to 3 other A4’s and an A3 and all of them were failing to find a street for any given postcode entry.

They attempted to upgrade the nav software via their SD card (and a second one from another branch in case theirs was faulty) but it wouldn’t take so have now referees back to Audi technical for it to be investigated as it seems like a centralised software issue.

Hi - wondering if a resolution was reached on this one. I have the same issue with my SD card based Nav (i.e. when I enter a postcode, both street and house number are unavailable).

I have a 2018 Audi A5 and have exactly the same problem. Did they ever fix your issue?

Found the answer on another forum. Under Postcode/Town DO NOT ENTER postcode. Instead enter the Town (e.g. London) and then Street will not be greyed out and you can enter the street name. Then Number is not greyed out and you can enter that. Crazy system. My 2008 Audi A5 was a lot better you could enter postcode first of all the street names etc etc. Why did Audi make it so difficult by changing it?
