What have you done to your 8V today?

Sure can you send me the link.

So I've already got the genuine Audi light and don't want the side side ones, and its a 3 door so only concerned about the front doors. Can I cut out the trim piece, fit it in and wire it directly to the wire box that's in the door panel ? Does it require any programming via Vagcom ?

Here's what I ordered: https://www.k-electronic-shop.de/AU...inge-Ausstiegsbeleuchtung-Nachruestpaket.html

Since you already have the puddle lights you probably only need the wire. I'm not sure if you can wire them without the red side lights but I assume you can?

You just wire the 12V in pin 16 and splice the other cable to pin 5 (or 4, it's the brown cable so you can't miss it)

That aswell lol. Need timing belt and water pump done then I'm gonna buy a vcds cable as I plan on stopping in the vw group for some time. There making some awesome lookin cars at the moment. The vw Tiguan is a high choice for my next car. Just behind a s4 advant
S4 all the way. Don't see me moving from Audi anytime soon. S3 is very likely our next car, with the intention of making it a bit of a labor of love. Though the Mrs keeps mentioning the RS6 but man that's an expensive beast!

The current a4 has a very nice interior. Potty about the stuck on screen, they could have atleast made it come out of the dash like the a3 lol

I had this on both treat tyres within three days of each other, both repaired for 10 quid a pop luckily.

Funnily enough I used the local garage in our village for speed and, although the bill was £14.40 they just took £10 too

Ah, so apart from the ASI it seems fairly similar to MIB1 with tech pack?

MIB2 unit has faster process and a dedicated GPU to cope with a much quicker interface.
Also with other manufactures delivering Android Auto and Apple Car play alot of owners are going for this feature too.

Yeah, makes sense. If the ASI was wireless I'd be interested for sure but other than that I think I'd rather just stick with MIB1 tech pack.

While wireless ASI would be nice it would drain your devices battery. Yes wireless charging is available however its no match for the power rating and speed of cable.

MIB2 High = Hi Resolution Screen, Hard drive based navigation, Audi Smartphone Interface, USB connectivity + more
Is it possible to have the Audi Smartphone Interface and USB connectivity on the PFL with tech pack?

MIB1 Tech Pack is great, I have no complaints!

It would "consume" more than 15W?

Dont done today but completed last week with @DJAlix at Vagcarcoding.

MIB1 > MIB2 upgrade.

Due to the complexity of this hardware no all full functionality can be delivered such as the AudiConnect services.

Definitely a nice upgrade to give the PFL infotainment an upgrade to bring it to a modern design.

Indeed, it is a vast improvement, compared to MIB1! :iagree:

A question for Schizophonic :

The blog post refers to a new (unused) main unit. What is its cost? I'm asking because I have retro-fitted an MIB2 (OEM re-furbished, VagNavisystems) unit, but have random sound issues on the right speakers, usually when very hot or hard turning to the right, and would probably examine the purchase of a brand new unit.

@DJAlix: Considering that you work on such retro-fits, have you ever experienced a similar issue?

Thank you both in advance!

No idea but the Audi wireless charging pad is no match for a cable.
Oh yeah completely agree with that. By wireless I meant "true" wireless (phone anywhere within the center console really, I have mine mounted on the vents) as opposed to sitting in the box as you might as well just plug it in. I think a 15W wireless charger would be more than sufficient in that case however.

Understand why most don't want to use the armrest to keep their phone in but unless you like "gadgets" n stuff stuck to your dash its the only way would you be able to wirelessly

Could be anything from a wiring issue through to a MIB mainboard or indeed amp issue. Wiring is simple enough to prove and fix however there are not many out there who can fix a mainboard on these units. Most people normally replace the MIB unit with another but as yours is retrofitted you will need to find another "activated" one. For a new and unused unit from me you would be looking at approx £1200.00

Mine was a brand new unit sourced outside of the UK but with parts and labour I paid roughly £1400. Best to get a quote from @DJAlix as his supplier can vary and also with exchange rate.
It does sound a bit overpriced for what it is but the beauty of this is that I can transfer this unit to a PFL car and it will work without issues (same experience as of right now) and I can recoup some of that money back when I come to sell it on its own.

As for your issue, I assumed you've plugged your original unit back into the car to test it? Also as we dont know the source or history of your unit it will be hard how it has been 'put together' to get it working for your car. It will be a trip to see @DJAlix to check software is how he believes it should be.

But with my unit I dont get sound issues like your describing.

Just googled it. Been told by a mechanic I know that releasing auto handbrake, leaving ignition on allows pads to bed changed without any need for any software / connection to car . Though I have heard of that going wrong somewhere.

This will physically work but not the right way.
If i remember right in vcds it goes through a few cycle to determine the pads thickness and probably other things. Most diag tools have a mode to do this.
New/refurbished calliper is around a couple of hundred. I can remember whrn they first came out and mechanics were breaking them by trying to wind them back, costly mistake as they were about £900 each back then.

Indeed. Should produce some interesting development data and will be doing a piece on MagRide calibrations as a follow up :)
Did you not do @MattSedg mag dampers? I couldn't see any difference in ride height?? when parked next to mines or do you calibrate the settings on the dampers to be more stiffer or compliant over stock? ergo nothing to do with ride height at all??? Just curious

Cannot remember to be honest. Has been a lot of Jack Daniels since AiTP9 :)

Impossible to adjust the ride hight without changing the springs etc.

What a calibration does is set the zero / resting position so that the MagRide controller can correctly supply each damper with the connect amount of power needed in order to keep the vehicle “flat” while moving. If the zero / resting position is set incorrectly too much or indeed too little power will be supplied to the dampers and affect the ride accordingly.

So what springs have you settled for

I've reversed into a fence...not sure why I thought reversing after the sensors were flat lining was a good idea...luckily no damage done - just damage to my pride lol.

Sounds like you need to pop over so I can retrofit a Genuine OEM Audi Reversing camera for you :)

Funnily enough I was the chap that emailed the other day asking about a FL S3 Saloon :playful: Front sensors with display I think would be the first thing if you can do that, although camera is also tempting.
